You may bring necessary documents to the school if you are unable to upload them.
Enrollment checklist-Help speed up enrollment by bringing along these important forms: (**students will not be enrolled in school without these forms)
- **Birth Certificate
A birth certificate is required for all new students who haven't been enrolled in the district before.
- **Proof of Immunization--SHOT RECORDS
- **Proof of Current Physical Address
Utility bills such as phone, water or electric-proof of one of these services at the home resident is required
Reminder: Students must be 5 years old on or before September 1st to enroll in Kindergarten
OAA REQUESTS: If you do not live in the Joy attendance area and wish to have your child attend Joy you will need to enroll in your home school and fill out an OAA request at that school that will be submitted to Joy. Out of Attendance Area requests will not be considered until after the first 10 days of school. Students must be enrolled in their home school for the first 10 days of school. Families will be contacted on day 11, if there is an opening in the requested grade level.

Kindergarten Screening: Aug. 17th – Aug 18th

It is during this time the kindergarten teachers will be completing individual assessments. The students will also be participating in group activities, in order to provide the best placement for your child. Parents will also be participating in a short presentation and filling out a questionnaire about his/her child. You will be notified of your child’s classroom placement by August 20th.

August 21st: Regular Kindergarten Schedule 8:30-3:00 p.m.
September 4th: Labor Day/No School
Back to School Ice Cream Social & Open House August 15th 5:30-7pm. During this event, students will find out who there teachers are and parents will be able to sign up for Parent / Teacher Conferences, the PTA, get information about the After-School Program, school lunch program and learn more about what is going on in the new school year. We look forward to seeing our new and returning Joy Cubs!
The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District Board of Education adopted a 2017-2018 Approved Budget at a June 22 special meeting.
Free kindergarten readiness kits and hands-on activities will be available at the Pioneer Park Fairbanks Day on June 14 from 1pm - 4pm.
