    Welcome New Joy Families!

    Please enroll online at the district homepage. here

    You may bring necessary documents to the school prior to school starting in August if you are unable to upload them.

    Help speed up enrollment by bringing along these important forms:

    (**students will not be enrolled in school without these forms)

    **Birth Certificate A birth certificate is required for students entering kindergarten or first grade who haven't been enrolled in the district before.

    **Proof of Immunization

    **Proof of Current Physical Address Utility bills such as phone, water or electric-proof of one of these services at the home resident is required

    Reminder: Students must be 5 years old on or before September 1st to enroll in Kindergarten.

     

    OAA REQUESTS: If you do not live in the Joy attendance area and wish to have your child attend Joy K-8 you will need to enroll in your home school and submit an online application in the Lottery here. This is the FNSBSD new online lottery system. Out of Attendance Area requests will not be considered until after the first 10 days of school. Students must be enrolled in their home school for the first 10 days of school. Families will be contacted on day 11th day, if there is an opening in the requested grade level.

    Joy is a recipient of the USDA Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program! Every Wednesday, fresh fruits or vegetables are delivered to all of our students to try. Ask your child what was delivered this week! Read the following letter to find out more about this special grant-funded program:

  • From Your District Leadership

    Friday marks the end of the non-student contact days mandated by Governor Dunleavy. School closures across Alaska are scheduled to continue through May 1. Beginning Monday we will launch remote learning for our district.

  • ASAA Cancels 2020 Spring Events

    The Alaska School Activities Association is announcing cancellation of all 2020 spring events, championships, regular season contest and practices. This decision applies to the following to: All-State Art, Esports (Spring Season), Solo & Ensemble, Track & Field, Soccer, Baseball and Softball.

  • School Closure Update

    Friday evening, Governor Dunleavy issued Mandate 8.1 that indicated, “Public and private schools are closed to students through May 1, 2020. Students will receive instruction through distance delivery methods. All after school activities will be suspended during this time.”

    It’s Friday of the first week of school closure. I can honestly say I’ve never experienced a week quite like this one, and I can only imagine that all of you are having a similar end-of-week exhale moment.

  • Schools Closed Through March 27

    Governor Dunleavy has announced the statewide closure of all public schools through March 27. We will continue to process new information as it comes to us and work to begin getting information out to families early next week.
