  • Apply Now for Effie Kokrine

    The Application window for the 2015-16 School Year is now open.

    How to Apply:

    1.) Download an application or pick up a paper copy from the following locations.

        Effie Kokrine - 601 Loftus Road, Fairbanks

        Fairbanks Native Association - 605 Hughes Avenue

        Tanana Chiefs Conference, Fifth Floor - 122 1st Avenue

        Andrew Isaac Health Clinic, Info  Desk, 1st Floor - 1408 9th Avenue

    2) Effie staff will contact you to schedule an interview. Please make sure that your contact information is current.

          Interviews will take place throughout the summer.

    3) Once all openings are filled in a grade level, a wait list will be kept

           Apply Early! Last year some grades were full by August

  • School Calendar

    The Effie Kokrine Charter School staff and Board of Directors approved a new school schedule that combines the traditional school calendar with a few changes to support the Alaska Native traditional calendar with a fall break in September.

    Pleae note: Our calendar is different from the rest of the schools in the district.

  • School district looking into creating K-8 schools

    Fairbanks school district officials are advancing preliminary plans to potentially replace one or more middle schools with schools that would teach students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

    As daily activities shift ever more onto electronic platforms, people with knowledge of coding are becoming increasingly sought after. As coding becomes more prevalent in the job sector and more useful as a hobby, it is beginning to appear more and more frequently in school curriculum.

  • Fairbanks teachers honored by Alaska Music Educators Association

    The Alaska Music Educators Association, has announced the recipients of its Music Educator of the Year and Music Advocate of the Year awards. There were a total of five Alaska awardees, and three are teachers in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. These awards are the highest honor bestowed by AMEA and recognize excellence in teaching, leadership and advocacy in music education.
