    How to Apply:

    1.) Download an application or pick up a paper copy from the following locations.

        Effie Kokrine - 601 Loftus Road, Fairbanks

        Fairbanks Native Association - 605 Hughes Avenue

        Tanana Chiefs Conference, Fifth Floor - 122 1st Avenue

        Andrew Isaac Health Clinic, Info  Desk, 1st Floor - 1408 9th Avenue

    2) Effie staff will contact you to schedule an interview. Please make sure that your contact information is current.

          Interviews will take place throughout the summer.

    3) Once all openings are filled in a grade level, a wait list will be kept

           Apply Early! Last year some grades were full by August

  • 2016 Graduation Ceremony Dates & Times

    Across the district, eight high school graduation ceremonies will take place between May 13 and 19, signifying the end of an educational journey for seniors, and a moment of pride for family and educators who helped them get to that point.

  • Summer School

    The school district will be holding summer school at Effie Kokrine Charter School. There are several options for students to register for classes: Online enrichment; online diagnostic; and teacher-led, credit-recovery classes for English and math courses. All classes are $185 each and are non refundable. Classes begin June 1. All online classes must be finished by July 16. Teacher-led, credit-recovery classes finish June 28. See your school counselor for more information and a registration form.

  • School district launching texting capability

    The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is adding text alerts to its available communication channels with parents and guardians. The same communication management system that sends out the district’s automated phone calls and emails has a texting function that will be activated April 18.

    The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is pleased to recognize Laura Bush, Response to Intervention (RTI) tutor at Denali Elementary, as the April 2016 Extra Special Support Staff Person.

  • District and Principals’ Association reach successful labor agreement

    The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District and the Fairbanks Principals’ Association have negotiated a successful tentative labor agreement. The contract was ratified by the FPA membership at a March 30 meeting and will go before the Board of Education for consideration April 19.

  • Fairbanks school board member announces resignation plans

    Fairbanks school board member Lisa Gentry announced Tuesday evening that she plans to resign her seat. Gentry, who is vice president of the Fairbanks North Star Borough Board of Education, said she is resigning because her family is in the process of moving to Vancouver, Washington. She said the move was career related.

  • Effie Kokrine Future Farmers of America chapter wins award

    Effie Kokrine’s Future Farmers of America chapter will be awarded $10,000 after being recognized as one of the top 10 distinguished honorees through Farm Credit Fresh Perspectives, a search to identify and honor 100 leaders changing rural communities and agriculture for the better.

  • Eielson sixth-grader wins Interior Spelling Bee

    A Crawford Elementary School student's reading habit helped her outlast the competition at Saturday's Interior Alaska Spelling Bee. Sixth-grader Kaitlyn O'Bryan won first place and a trip to Washington, D.C., after successfully spelling the word "centaur."
