Fairbanks school district reaches tentative agreement with support workers
FAIRBANKS—The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District has reached a tentative three-year labor agreement with the Education Support Staff Association, which represents the district’s classified employees.
The agreement was announced in a joint news release this morning.
The contract, which will go before the school board on Sept. 18, provides step increases each year as well as a 1.75 percent increase to the salary schedule. Employees who are ineligible for step increases will be given a stipend of $750.
The union, which covers custodial, maintenance, kitchen and other support capacities, is scheduled to ratify the agreement on Sept. 8. The contract does not affect teachers, who are covered by the Fairbanks Education Association.
