The Young Native Fiddlers, under the direction of Bill Stevens, musical director, and Lisa Gwalthney, group director, performed at the Nov. 17, 2009 school board meeting.

The Young Native Fiddlers is a group of local Alaska Native students, predominately Athabascan, who perform at many cultural and school events throughout the year.

The school district has released figures on average class size for the 2009-2010 school year.

“Class size information is important for making staffing adjustments within schools and across the district,” Kathy Hughes, Executive Director of Alternate Instruction and Accountability, said. “The district makes every attempt to make class sizes as low as funding will allow.”
